In the winter, everyone needs a little bit of love. Those dark, cold days are enough to get anybody down and it can seem like summer is getting further away rather than nearer. But luckily if we have good friends around us, we can get through – so here’s some ideas of how to cheer up a friend who’s struggling this winter.
- Practical shoes
Sometimes in winter deciding what to wear can be really difficult. In the heat of the summer months, a flowery dress and a denim jacket can pretty much serve as a uniform – but in the winter, we have to contend with colour coordination, keeping warm, accessories like scarves and a hundred other things. It can even be difficult to decide on shoes – if it’s icy we need something grippy like badminton shoes but if it’s just cold a pair of cosy uggs will do just fine. A great gift for winter can be some practical shoes that find the right balance between warmth, style and grip!
- Outerwear
Let’s face it, buying a new coat is a bigger decision than buying a new t shirt or even some new shoes. Coats are expensive, and the are definitely an investment buy. But the thing is they are also very necessary – especially if you live in a cold climate, you can’t really get through the day to day without some decent outerwear. So if you’re struggling with a good gift to get a loved one, why not look into some good outerwear so they can be warm and cosy without having to worry about the price?
- Accessories
Everybody likes to spice up their outfit from time to time, but in winter it can be especially difficult – rather than necklaces, bandannas and pretty shoes, cold weather accessories are more in the order of scarves, gloves, hats, and bags with enough room for a fluffy pair of gloves. So if you know someone who likes to accessorise as much as the next person during the winter months but struggles to know what to wear, then why not spend some time looking for accessories you know will suit them that they wouldn’t buy for themselves.
- Winter tickets
The winter months can be very depressing and it can be hard to know how to fill your time productively. If you have a friend who struggles in the dark months, why not look up local venues and exhibitions, or even sporting events, and buy your friend a season ticket? You could even get one for the both of you, taking the opportunity to spend some time with them and develop your bond as well as letting them enjoy something that makes them feel good.
- Gym memberships
Not everyone feels like a gym membership is a worthwhile use of their money, but actually it’s a great way to invest in yourself and your wellness and happiness – a great winter time gift for someone you care about could be a gym membership for them or for the pair of you.
It’s always a good idea to try and cheer up your friends, but sometimes it’s hard to know what to do – hopefully this list has given you some practical gift ideas!
