At least 17 Palestinians were killed, including an 11-month-old baby and 32 others were wounded in an Israeli airstrike on a school-turned-shelter in Gaza’s Nuseirat encampment. The attack comes amid an intense and prolonged military offensive by Israel in Gaza, now targeting densely populated areas in its 20th day. The Gaza Government Media Office reports that over 770 Palestinians have been killed and 1,000 wounded as the Israeli military’s assault on Jabalia and the northern part of Gaza continues in recent days.
The death toll has reached a staggering 42,847 in Gaza. More than 100,544 people have been wounded since October 7, 2023, following Hamas-led attacks on Israel. During those attacks, and only an estimated 1,139 Israelis were killed. Further escalating the violence, over 200 people were taken captive by Hamas
In Lebanon, the situation has also intensified. Israel carried out more than 17 airstrikes on Beirut’s southern suburbs, destroying six buildings in sudden, unannounced raids overnight. At least one person was killed, and five others were wounded in the strikes Lebanon’s Health Ministry confirmed, which reflect the broader regional escalation stemming from the conflict in Gaza.
