On-Page Optimization Tips in 2017

Search Engine Optimization has become a necessary component for online businesses. People search on Google and other search engines about particular products and topics. For example, if I want to learn about latest SEO trends I would type “latest SEO trends in 2017” and press enter. When a user presses enter Google provides most relevant results which can be useful for a person. Google crawls billions of web pages everyday to find relevant results for the search query. SEO is all about optimizing your site in such a way that Google trust’s it with useful content and presents it on top level SERP’s (Search Engine -Result Pages). SEO is divided into two main streams On-page optimization and off-page optimization. Here I will guide you through some on-page tips to rank your website higher in SERP’s. Let’s get to work:

Website speed:

If you are new to SEO you might think how can website speed benefit SEO but it does. Website speed is important in terms of user behavior. Usually people do not wait enough for a website to load and move to next if it loads slowly. Now, most search engines record this behavior and name it as bounce rate. Google and other search engines calculate the time user spent on your website. The longer the user stays the better it is for SEO, as it will make search engine think that there is some useful information for person. The greater the bounce rate is search engines will have negative impact of your website and this certainly will affect your rankings. Therefore, it is important that you optimize your website and decrease loading time where possible.

Meta Tags:

Even though some SEO’s consider them useful, I and many others still consider them useful for any website. It is still good practice to use them on your website. Some important tags that you should use on your web pages are meta title and meta descriptions. Meta title is the title of your website which is shown in the bar of browser once the website is accessed. Meta descriptions are tags which define your web pages. It gives search engines idea what the particular page is about and what target keywords are.

HTML Tags:

HTML tags like header, H1 and H2 are very important for SEO point of view. The first thing that search engine crawler looks for after page title is H1 tag. It provides information to search engine that from here some important information is starting. Similarly use other header tags like h2 and h3.

Content:

Content is the most important part of your on-page optimization plan. First of all create content for humans not for crawlers. The second most important thing is that keep updating your content so that search engine knows that suitable information is constantly being added or update on your webpage. Use keywords in you content but never over do it. Your aim should be to write for humans not bots.
