We all want to feel happier, but let’s be honest, life doesn’t always make it easy.
The good news? Happiness isn’t some distant goal reserved for the lucky few. It is a practice and a mindset that anyone can nurture. It’s more like a journey, shaped by the choices you make, the habits you build, and the mindset you nurture every single day.
According to a popular quote by Albert Camus,
You will never be happy if you continue to search for what happiness consists of. You will never live if you are looking for the meaning of life.
In this blog post, I will discuss a list of 10 secrets that personally helped me to be a happy person in life when I was thinking the same, about how I can be satisfied. These will not do everything right, but they will teach you how to live happily in every situation.
8 Secrets of Happiness to be Happy
Now I will discuss my top secrets of happiness that made me a happy person. These secrets do not guarantee work on all days, as nothing can guarantee work on all days, but they can make one appear happier.
You should always remember that happiness never resolves sorrow or sadness, but it may help decrease them. Going through the long healing process does not imply that one cannot still have happy moments along the way.

1. Sometimes, you have to complain too little and let it go too much
When you are in a bad mood and believe nothing will make you smile, go out and eat. Do not complain about what you eat or the service you receive, and leave a generous tip.
This minor interruption is something surprising. Keep in mind that, however bad your day is, you can still brighten someone’s day with this huge tip. You just have to remember the best-case scenario, which is that you have a fantastic lunch.
2. Put your face in the sunshine
When you are in a bad mood or just slightly irritated, turn off your phone and go outside into the sun. All you need to do is stick your head out in the sunlight for a couple of minutes.
You have to let it warm you. Then, after staying a couple of moments in the sunlight, decide what to do next. When I feel frustrated, I spend moments in the sunlight, and I know that I would find it much easier to get unbothered when outside. This will also help you gain clarity and feel happier.
3. Walk and then walk some more to become a happy person
You may know about the 120-mile walk through France, which author Elizabeth Gilbert described in Solvitur Ambulando. Most people are unaware of its meaning, which is “solved by walking.”
Some problems can be solved by taking a walk. You don’t have to keep walking for hours like manually moving a grandfather clock. You have to walk for a while in the open air and spend time with yourself. Let me tell you that my slow-paced walk for ten days has once again made me feel like a human being.
4. Drink and drink some more water
If I share my personal experience, it is incredible to me that I can find myself feeling sad or angry and still enjoy water. This sometimes makes me think, only to realize that I was actually hot and engaged.
When you feel stressed or frustrated for any reason, such as getting started on a project, you just need to relax and have a drink or eat. Just start with some basics, and you will see that things are often the easiest that can bring the most change.
5. Communicate daily with a person whom you love for happiness
Communicating with loved ones also makes you feel happier and relaxed, which in turn makes you satisfied. Let me tell you that I converse with my daughter and/or my sister, which is almost a daily occurrence. This conversation sometimes gets long, and sometimes it is just like a small high-five, but it makes me feel happier and satisfied.
These are the ladies who can fill me with tears of laughter. At times, we gossip or discuss issues, but mostly, we chat about our lives and our accomplishments. So you should call your loved ones and discuss with them a happy life.
6. Spend some time with pets, should you wish to be a happy person
Pets make me soft and joyful inside after I have spent time alongside them. It is one of the best things to do for happiness and satisfaction. Whenever I get sad or angry, I just try to play with my dog, and it makes me feel satisfied. When I look into his eyes, I feel better.
I had a dog, but I don’t have one currently; however, there are always numerous pets in the park. I call those random dogs and start to play with them, and it makes me feel good. When there is no furry friend around, even a picture on Instagram with my pets makes me feel better.
7. Create a jar of joy
Try to place a jar or a vase on your side table, bed, or on a shelf where you daily place things. Write some small notes at the end of each week about what made you a happy person, what you were grateful for, and what actually made you happy.
And after that, place all of the m in that jar like a small collection. When you are in a bad mood, look through your jar of joy to revise all the little aspects that made you feel better.
8. Sleep all night long
Matthew Walker, a sleep researcher and author, claims that sleep is most likely the best thing a person can do to reset the brain and body.
Sleep is essential so that your mind stays fresh and so you stay happier. In my case, I am moody, less driven, and indeed unhappy when I have a bad night’s sleep. Keep in mind that everything is better when you are asleep.
